LEWANDOWSKI LEADS CHAMPIONS LEAGUE GOLDEN BOOT

Bayern Munich star Robert Lewandowski has proven himself to be a goal machine over the past seasons. The Polish international is presently the race for the Champions League Golden Boot Award this season ahead of the likes of Ajax Amsterdam striker Sebastien Haller, Manchester United hitman Cristiano Ronaldo and others.

Lewandowski took his Champions League tally to eight goals in four games after his hattrick performance against Portuguese team Benfica in the last round of games. The Bayern Munich striker scored three times in a 5-2 home win for his team to usurp Ivorian striker Haller at the top of the Champions League scoring chart.

Polish international Lewandowski started the latest round of Champions League games on five goals and his treble against Benfica took him to eight goals.

On his part, Ajax Amsterdam had six goals in his first three games before he scored the final goal of the game to wrap up a 4-0 home win over German side Borussia Dortmund in the last matchday to take his tally to seven goals.

Portugal international Cristiano Ronaldo is one of three players on five goals after four Champions League games. The others on five goals are RB Leipzig attacker Christopher Nkunku and Liverpool star Mohamed Salah.

Cristiano Ronaldo has been able to maintain his record of scoring in each matchday this season. He scored three goals in the first three games before he added a brace during the 2-2 draw at the home of Italian Serie A club Atalantain the last round of games.

Egyptian talent Salah didn’t score in the last round of games as he stayed on five goals. He had the five goals from his first three games this season.

Frenchman Nkunku scored for home team Leipzig against former club PSG in a 2-2 draw to take his tally to five Champions League goals this season.
